Since graduating with honours from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 2005, Olga Szynkarczuk has worked in New York, London, Italy and Poland. She has been highly recognised in numerous fashion competitions: winner of 2010 Lexus Fashion Night 6 competition in Warsaw, participant in 2009 Who’s Next in Paris, finalist of 2009 IYFE in London, and winner of 2004 CFDA Scholarschip in New York. After winning the Polish edition of the prestigious International Young Fashion Entrepreneur competition in 2009 and being shortlisted for the IYFE London Olga Szynkarczuk established her own environmentally and socially aware high end fashion brand.
The Polish designer descends from a family heritage of fashion back to her milliner great grandmother. While cooperating with Polish highlanders she invented Kierpcasy – high heels inspired by traditional Polish mountain shoes. Her SS2010 collection, which included hand painted silk items alongside traditional Polish hand crocheted lace garments and handmade leather accessories, earned her a Special Commendation in Golden Thread competition in 2009 and participation in Who’s Next in Paris. Her AW2010 collection was a collaboration with the Sri Lanka National Crafts Council’s pillow lace crafts women, presented during Sri Lanka Design Festival 2009 fashion show. With her company Olga Szynkarczuk is adding a contemporary edge to the ideas of craftsmen worldwide and helping to preserve dying art according to fair trade guidelines.
Since establishing her own brand her creativity won Olga Szynkarczuk the praise of prestigious fashion dignitaries, such as Diane Pernet and Nova Dando. Milla Jovovich, who supports young fashion designers worldwide wore two Olga Szynkarczuk dresses while hosting Lexus Fashion Night 6. The brand was featured heavily in various national and international magazines such as Elle, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Viva Moda, KMAG and Exklusiv.
